Two Teams Make Grand Finals at Vicki Wilson Championships
Last week, St James College netball enjoyed a standout day at the Vicki Wilson Championships, with both the Senior Boys and Junior Girls progressing to their Grand Finals and finishing as runners-up.
Bringing together the top two teams from each Queensland region, the Championships capped a strong season for Jimmies after qualifying at the May regionals. The event provided valuable match play ahead of the National All Schools Netball Challenge in Adelaide in early September.
St James college Sports Development Co-ordinator Eliza Hoelscher said the Junior Girls, drawn from Years 7–9, often faced predominantly Year 9 opponents and showcased their talent on the court. Many of these athletes will now travel to Adelaide as part of a Year 9/10 team that includes select Year 8 students.
The Senior Boys matched that energy with their own run to the decider, underlining the rapid growth of boys netball at Jimmies. Congratulations to both teams, and thank you to our coaches, officials and families for their support as we build towards Nationals.
