Three teams of St James College students each created a mini documentary in a day, as part of a national challenge run by the Edmund Rice Foundation (ERF).

The Doco in a Day challenge is an initiative of ERF, in support of equitable access to quality education and life-changing opportunities for vulnerable communities around the world.

As part of the Edmund Rice global network, St James College is committed to justice through education, both locally and globally.

By taking part in Doco in a Day, St James College students not only developed practical filmmaking skills, but also embraced their role as global citizens — using their voices to stand in solidarity with those denied access to education.

ERF Marketing and Communications Partner sent her heartfelt thanks to the St James College teams for taking on the challenge.

“It's fair to say that your students work pulled at plenty of heartstrings here in the Edmund Rice Foundation office and there were tears.“

St James College Arts and Culture Development Officer Tia Jordan said the students courageously explored their own stories around equitable education after she taught them technical aspects of storytelling for a micro documentary.

“The students are proud of their efforts.”

“It’s absolutely amazing they achieved what they did inside 8 hours!

“I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved,” Jordan added.

The student teams were:

Sitara Stories: Mina Rezaie, Haneih Rezaie (supported by Tia Jordan)

Team Gold: Airlia Mangels, Haniska Neelarmstrong (supported by Gracelyn Lee)

Daughters of Hope: Marwa Ibrahimzai, Humaira Mohammadi (supported by Karen Lindsay)
