St James College recently celebrated the commissioning of Year 12 student leaders and new staff at their Inaugural Mass and Commissioning Ceremony. In a manner true to Jimmies Spirit, the event commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by a warm welcome from several students who greeted guests and attendees in their various native languages.

The Mass was led by Fr Anthony Mellor, Dean of The Cathedral of St Stephen, who reflected on the season of Lent and the importance of being prepared for a successful year ahead. He also commemorated the 16th Anniversary of the National Apology to Australia's First Peoples.

The ceremony that followed the Mass included the commissioning of new staff, the introduction of the college’s first Indigenous ambassadors, Year 12 house leaders, and the college captains, Shakinah Faialaga and Remy Mukendi, and vice-captains, Nahed Adam and Angus Green.
