Last Friday evening, Brisbane, Queensland and Australian Rugby League legend Ben Hunt was the special guest at a fundraising dinner for the St James College netball and rugby league teams, who are preparing to travel to the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools competitions in Rockhampton and Bundaberg in late June.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the college catering team, followed by a Q&A session with Ben. Guests also had the opportunity to ask questions from the floor, take photos with Ben, enjoy a few rounds of ball toss, and witness the signing of raffle prizes.

St James College Assistant Principal, Equity and Student Engagement, Nick Hurley said it was an inspiring evening for our students.

“Ben spoke candidly about his life on and off the field.”

“He was inspiring for the students in the room contemplating life as a professional athlete, and at the same time, sharing ways to be a great team player and stay connected and passionate with whatever sport they were passionate about,” Hurley added.

The student netball and rugby league teams expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support of the St James College community as they approached the upcoming competitions.
