Two St James College Year 12 students, Basira Hazara and Mitra Hussaini, have been selected to participate in the QUT Future You Summit 2025. Chosen from a pool of 540 applicants across Queensland and Northern NSW, these students will take part in an immersive, week-long program running from 30 June to 4 July at QUT’s Brisbane campuses.

Basira will join the Health Pioneers stream, where she will explore disciplines such as biomedical sciences and medical laboratory science. Through hands-on workshops, site visits, and lectures led by QUT academics, she will gain first-hand exposure to the research and practical skills shaping tomorrow’s health sector.

Mitra has been selected for the Impactful Engineers stream, which delves into areas like software engineering and mechanical engineering. Guided by industry experts, she will work on real-world challenges and develop the problem-solving abilities required for a future in engineering innovation.

This opportunity provides both students with a taste of university life, direct mentorship from QUT staff, and the chance to network with peers who share their career ambitions.
