Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers
Four senior St James College students, Tharu, Charlotte, Imran and Rainal, recently attended the Young Engineers Australia (YEAQ) Executive Breakfast, hosted by Engineers Australia at Brisbane Town Hall.
The event explored ethics and sustainability in engineering, exploring how engineers make responsible decisions and contribute to a more sustainable future. Further, the event gave students the chance to connect with professionals across industries and gain real-world insights into future career pathways.
One student spoke with a manufacturing engineer who had spent 20 years in the military and discussed how engineering expertise can adapt across different industries. Another connected with a civil engineer who shared insights from his career and highlighted the importance of perseverance. She described the event as “inspiring” and encouraged other students to take part in future opportunities.
Young Engineers Australia (YEA) is the largest subgroup within the Engineers Australia community and, for more than 25 years, has represented, supported and provided a voice for young engineers in Australia.
Events like this provide valuable opportunities for St James College students to experience real-world learning and discover the broad range of pathways open to them beyond school.
