Huge Success for Rotary's 40th Anniversary Art Show Hosted at St James

St James College hosted the 40th Anniversary Rotary Art Show for three Brisbane clubs who started it in a Carindale shopping in 1980. 

Hosted in the college's main hall, guests were welcomed by the the school's guitar ensemble and enjoyed drinks served by the RSA certificate student service team. Canapes were prepared and served by the student catering team the JCAT's with cultural performances by the school's Pacific Islander and African Dance groups.

The Rotary Clubs of Stones Corner, Hamilton and Brisbane High-Rise were delighted with the event. Mr Bill Phillips, Member of Rotary Brisbane High-Rise Club said: "The impact on entering the venue set the scene. The room looked great and we were made to feel so welcome by the students."

"They were terrific in everything they did; engaging, enthusiastic and helpful right throughout the evening. 

"They are a great credit to the school."

The Art Show itself showcased student work ranging from water colour paintings, ceramic pieces, oil paintings and more.

Over the last 40 years the show has progressively grown to become one of the signature events in the arts calendar in Brisbane and has raised over $2m for beneficiary charities and club projects. 

Numerous community sponsors and partners were acknowledged for their support over the years.
