2023 alumnus Harry Dixon recently marched out of an intensive nine-week training program at the Army Base in Kapooka. His next move is to the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers college at the Royal Australian Air Force base in Wagga, where he will commence his next phase of training to become an Aircraft Technician, followed by further on-the-job training at Swartz Barracks in Oakey.

Harry will gain a full trade qualification over two years and will be working on the Army’s fleet of helicopters and drones.

Whilst in Year 12 at St James College, Harry completed two Defence work experience placements, the Army Familiarisation Program at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera and the Army Aviation Familiarisation Program at Schwartz Barracks, Oakey.

Harry credits completing the Certificate II in Outdoor Education and Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (Formula Student) in Years 11 and 12 as helping guide him towards his Australian Defence Force career.
