The college excitedly welcomed world champion boxer Jeff Horn as he spoke to students at a special assembly to promote a bullying prevention message.

Horn linked his personal experience of bullying and his background as boxer and teacher to his passion to advocate for bullying prevention.

Joined by CEO Frank Mechler of the AMAYDA Bullying Prevention Program, Mechler also talked to students about AMAYDA's mission to empower young people by building their confidence and equipping them with practical solutions to difficult situations.

To support the cause, short film ‘Slugger’ produced by movie-making duo and co-directors Daniel Chen and Ashil Ranpara was screened. The film featured a student who ends up in a coma after a coward punch. Horn plays the role of a school teacher who sees himself in the student and shows him how to protect himself.

Further Horn shared his personal story of being bullied at high school and how the experience fuelled his motivation to achieve.

Principal Ann Rebgetz said: "The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and benefited from the presentation."

"Thank you Jeff for your patience and warmth," she said.
