Happy Waitangi Day NZ

More Info: Click Here

This year will mark the 178th anniversary of the February 6 signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, the agreement between the British Crown and New Zealand Maori rangatira (chiefs) that led to New Zealand becoming a British colony.

In New Zealand Waitangi Day is a public holiday and the most significant cultural event on the NZ calendar. The Treaty, which was signed in the Bay of Islands at James Busby’s House (now known as Treaty House)  not only made New Zealand a subject of the British Empire but also guaranteed Maoris both the rights to their land and the rights of British subjects.

On behalf of everyone at Jimmies,we’d like to take this opportunity to wish New Zealand a Happy Waitangi Day.
